Kolumbien

Das Land ist eines der an biologischer Vielfalt reichsten Länder der Welt. Etwa 15 Prozent des Staatsgebietes stehen unter Naturschutz. Landesweit sind Gebiete von ökologischer Bedeutung geschützt. Kolumbien weist 59 Parques Nacionales Naturales aus. Die Gesamtfläche der Reservate macht 142.682 km² aus.

Im Januar/Februar 2025 konnte ich die folgenden "Hot Spots" zur Vogelbeobachtung besuchen:

·       Finca Busque de Niebla, Km 18

·       Doña Dora

·       La Leonora

·       Laguna de Sonso

·       Reserva Natural San Cipriano

Gewohnt habe ich in Puente Palo, einem kleinen Dorf in 1.500 m Höhe, etwa 45 km nord-westlich vom Flughafen Cali entfernt, westlich der Stadt La Cumbre. Dort habe ich 30 verschiedene Vogelarten fotografisch dokumentieren können.

Colombia

Colombia is one of the megadiverse countries in biodiversity, ranking first in bird species. Colombia is the country with the planet's highest biodiversity, having the highest rate of species by area as well as the largest number of endemic species (not found naturally anywhere else) of any country. About 18% of the bird species of the world live in Colombia, i.e., 1,900 bird species.

Protected areas and the "National Park System" cover an area of about 142,682 km² and account for about 12.5 % of the Colombian territory.
